One thing we love about being in the world of natural and holistic health and wellness is that we get to meet SO many inspiring, committed, passionate people who are really serious about taking natural health and beauty further, whether it’s through genius green juice creations, yoga classes that nurture the spirit, or fitness programs that remind you that being healthy can be really fun. We’ve met one such individual who has an amazing job and does an amazing job at it: Laura Benge, National Director of Exhale Spas! Exhale is a national chain of high-quality spas that are committed to achieving wellness through a holistic approach: mind, body, and spirit. They offer a wide range of spa treatments (including Tata Harper facials!) as well as core fusion classes, yoga classes, acupuncture and energetic therapies, retreats, teacher trainings, etc. The list of what they offer is truly well-rounded.
Next week (Thursday the 20th!) we’re thrilled to be participating in Exhale’s 2nd annual NamasDay event, a day all about celebrating health and wellness. Free yoga classes, live music, raffles, and lots more! As we’re looking forward to the event we thought we’d get in touch with Laura to learn a little bit more about her and her lifestyle, and here’s what she had to say:
What’s your favorite part of being Exhale’s National Spa director?
It is easily being a part of a health, beauty and wellness company that values the mind body connection. You cant feel good without looking good and vice versa. exhale blends everything I love into one fabulous urban oasis amazing spa therapies and butt-kicking classes. I love connecting with a guest and watching them go through the transformation that occurs when you decided to make being healthy a priority. At exhale, I work with an amazing group of professionals who are dedicated to exhale and we all love to laugh and make work fun.
What’s your philosophy on balancing the the hectic pace of a busy lifestyle with relaxation?
I always say that self renewal isnt a luxury its a necessity. Taking a proactive approach rather than the reactive makes all the difference. Getting a monthly facial and massage has incredible benefits that transcend being relaxed for an hour. It is something I do for my body and skin that I know will pay off in the long run. I try and take core fusion and yoga 3-4 times a week. Plus I love a good run in NYC its when I think most clearly.
What are your essential daytime de-stress techniques?
I have on me at all times Tata Harper Irritability Aromatherapy. Three deep breathes and a deep inhale of the scent is all it takes to refocus. It is my personal signature scent whenever I give a facial to someone. It can also double as perfume if I am on my way to happy hour after work!
What do you think is an important element for maintaining a healthy daily complexion?
It is all about the daily routine. Keep it simple and consistent. And start as early as you can. I keep it relatively easy cleanser, moisturizer, treatment, eye cream and SPF. Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser and Restorative Eye Crème are two of my favorites. I do a dry brush in the morning it is a great way to increase circulation, kick-start detoxification and help along the body’s lymph drainage system than I drench myself in Tata Harper Revitalizing Body Oil. Anyone who knows me can tell you I love this body oil!
What’s your favorite Exhale treatment?
Can I have two? The Power Facial and Acu-Massage. Our Power facial is amazingin one hour you get the works! We incorporate a great peel, hydration and our coolbeam, our LED technology that leaves my skin glowing for days. Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum is a great finishing product. Acu Massage is a blend of acupuncture and massage that is heavenly.
We’ll keep you posted with more event details as it gets closer – we can’t wait!
