I wanted to share some of my recent beauty staples: these are the natural makeup, hair care and skin care items that I keep with me both at home and as I fly around from city to city on my travels.
I adore this hair treatment. It makes my hair feel so good – glowing, nourished, strong and soft. I put a little bit on my hands, usually right after showering and drying my hair, and then I run it through my hair from the roots to the ends using my fingers. Then I just leave it through the whole day, so it can do its work. Phylia de M has really excellent products, and I love their commitment to natural ingredients.
Ive had this hairbrush forever, and I love its classic look. It feels good to use it – like a little scalp massage with every stroke.
I picked up this little guy at Sephora and now I never go on a trip without it. It’s so handy – it takes up almost no space in your bag, and provides that essential little bit of styling for fly-aways and bangs just before an event.
4: Elixir Vitae
Naturally, I have this product with me everywhere – I use it twice a day, every morning and evening. Its my ultimate anti-aging, anti-wrinkle treatment, and Im never with out it. Ive given it to my mother, my sister, my closest friends, and now theyre all addicted just like me.
Mascara is one of those categories for which a lot of natural beauty-buyers sub in a synthetic product, because it can be so difficult to find a natural mascara that actually works. I love this one from Kjaer Weis – it gives light definition, which is just my style. I dont like looking like Im wearing a lot of eye makeup, so its just the right amount.
These are my go-to tints right now! I use Very Naughty on my lips for a dramatic, bright-red pop, and Very Sweet on my cheeks for a glowy flush. I love its delicate peach shade but mostly, how it doubles as a high-lighter, and really brings out the skins natural luminosity. Very Charming is just simply the best pink shade Ive ever used, and love it on my cheeks when Im looking for a little more color.
Right now, my favorite look is super-glowy, fresh looking skin, with a little bit of mascara, gold eyeshadow applied to the edges of the eyelid, and bright red lips. Solar is my go-to for my eyes; I apply it with a brush so that its more like eyeliner on my upper lid. It gives just the right amount of sparkle and warmth to the face.
I use this tool when I apply my Restorative Eye Creme – I apply the Creme to the applicator, and then I do 10 circles clockwise with the Opal around my eyes, and then 10 circles counter-clockwise. That really helps to stimulate microcirculation, which diminish dark circles, shadows and puffiness, plus it helps the product penetrate more effectively.
I use this as my last skincare step just before putting on makeup – it immediately makes the skin soft and supple, giving it a really nice moisturized texture, so that makeup is a little easier to blend into the skin and lasts longer.
You never know when youre going to need a little spritz of hand sanitizer. I love this natural brand – they sell it at my local co-op and its ingredients are totally trustworthy. Its great to use on the kids hands, too.
11: Vapour Eyeliner
I dont wear eyeliner often, but when I do, I really like Vapours pencils. They give good color and are easy to apply and layer.
Every time I do my makeup or get ready for a night out, I love to take a moment to chill out and re-connect with some positive energy with my Irritability Treatment. I adore the scent – a few deep breaths and bad moods seem to disappear, replaced by some happier vibes. Plus, I always get compliments on my perfume when Ive just put it on!
So, there you have it: my beauty must-haves. I’m curious to know what natural, nontoxic beauty secrets you’ve discovered that you keep in your bag – any that you’d recommend? Share in the comments below! xxo
