I don’t know about you, but when the weather turns cold, my diet tends to start getting more and more neutral, at least color-wise. Think bread, hummus, chocolate, pasta, more bread… colors become scant this time of year! I love solving that problem with fresh juice, which can bring a blast of vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants to your day.
One of my favorite source for recipe ideas is Juice. Blend. Taste. by Cindy Palusamy. As the founder of The Juciery, Cindy created the juice lovers’ ideal cookbook with dozens of recipes and suggestions, for every health concern, dietary need, or even ultimate goal (think glowing skin!). She not only includes The Juicery’s recipes, but many are from wellness leaders around the world, including two juice recipes contributed by Tata!
Over the next week, we’ll share three recipes for our favorite juices from the book. So, let’s get started…
To start off, this morning I made a juice with carrots, orange and turmeric as an immune-system boost, and a shock of color for my system. This is the juicer I’ve been using for the past few years; it’s fine, and it gets the job done, but I can’t help it if I lust after a proper masticating juicer.
Carrot Orange Turmeric Juice Recipe
2 turmeric roots (2-3 inches long): the body loves turmeric, thanks to its powerful soothing properties.
3 carrots: packed with beta-carotene for glowing skin.
2 oranges, peeled: good for the skin for so many reasons; vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, vitamin A strengthens the skin, and B vitamins promote blood flow for improved oxygenation.
5 mint leaves (or more; I used double this amount): another source of vitamin A; plus, it gives the flavor of the juice an unexpected edge.
Add all the ingredients into your juicer and ta-da, simple as that. You can drink the juice just as it is or blend with ice to make cool. Double the recipe and share with a co-worker!
