Meet Marissa Kraxberger, a mother of two in Manhattan who writes the beautiful and endlessly charming blog Lady & Prince (named after her two little ones, of course!). While once she blogged for Oscar de la Renta, Marissa now works as the Vice President of Creative at Ivanka Trump. She’s a gal with great taste, style, and motherhood wisdom. Here, she shares with us some priceless motherhood moments (look at those photos! stunning!) in celebration of Mother’s Day.
What’s a moment from motherhood you’ll never forget?
There are so many it is hard to pin point one, but I think one of the special things about being a NYC parent is those NYC momentslike watching your little ones taking their first steps and waddling down a New York City sidewalk. Seeing their joy and excitement as they explore the new world around them is magical.
What keeps you feeling beautiful? (Interpret this any way you like!)
A glass of wine and my husbandha! I think that I feel the most beautiful when I am taking the best care of myself. I love running in the mornings and that really makes me feel more positive about myself.
How do you treat yourself?
Travel is my true passion point and it is really important to me to plan yearly getaways with and without the kids.
What’s your favorite Tata Harper product and why?
I love the Rejuvenating Serum! It is amazing… feels great on my skin and smells good. My skin feels healthier after I smooth it on.
What’s your favorite way to disconnect and spend time with your family? Traveling with my family is my absolute favorite way to disconnect. We have gone to many places together, but one our favorite journeys was to the south of France. We rented a house near Saint Raphael and spent 10 days adventuring along the Cote d’Azure. Even if we can’t travel far, I still love planning little one-day getaways for us to play. I am not great at sitting and playing with toys or even doing arts and crafts, but I am great at planning adventures and fun activities for our family so I focus my energies on that. Can you share a discovery that has led to finding more balance in your life? It is actually a silly one. I let go of bath time… sounds weird, right? When the kids were very young I used to rush home from work just in time to feed them, bathe them and put them to bed. It was utter chaos. I felt like I had to do those things since I was working and I wasn’t home all day with them. What I realized was that it wasn’t quality time, they were upset because we were packing too much in to fast and we were totally stressed. One day I just decided that I would ask our nanny to have them bathed and fed before I got home so that I could just play with them and literally everything changed. I would come home and we would play, do art projects, have a dance party, wrestle… all things that really made an impact. I realized that just because I wasn’t the one bathing and feeding them at the end of the night didn’t mean that I wasn’t being a good mom… spending time playing was far more beneficial to them and to me.
