Spring is finally in bloom at the farm, which means plenty of time spent with the kids out in the garden, enjoying nature and soaking in the sun. This year is already off to an incredible start, and I feel so lucky to have been able to share so many memorable moments with my littles ones. From traveling home to Columbia to visit family, relishing in a hockey tournament victory with Hunter, sweet afternoons spent picking flowers in the grass with Grace and Tata Mia, and all the little moments in-between, I can already tell this year will be one for the books.
Whether you’re spending the day out with your loved ones or enjoying a low-key afternoon at home, myself and all of us at Tata Harper Skincare wish you a lovely and unforgettable Mother’s Day weekend! xoxo Tata
1. What’s the most important lesson you have learned so far as a mother?
That even though you have kids that you love and are the best things that can happen to you, you cannot forget about yourself and your own needs. We forget about this and then are always tired and stressed. Since I realized this and started making the effort to do those nourishing behaviors for myself, I feel like I’m a better mother.
2. How has being a mom changed your beauty routine?
I am happy to say that it hasn’t changed at all! My routine is comprehensive, really revolves around layering product and doesn’t take that much time. The only thing that’s really changed is that I do it with them! They know all about how creams work, etc.
3.What is your favorite way to spend time with your family?
I love to spend time with them out in the farm, being in nature. We love to walk around the farm and gardens and just be.
4. What is the best piece of advice about motherhood you have ever been given?
Learn how to pick your battles. You’re teaching them, they’re growing and developing into their own people, not everything can be a battle so you need to learn how to let some things go. You want your kids to maintain that bond and connection with you and if you’re exclusively a source of stress and demands they’ll just stop communicating with you.
5. How do you celebrate Mother’s Day in your home?
The kids typically make me breakfast in bed, then we do things that I want to do. They’ll be with me doing all the stuff that I love to do, like antiquing, cleaning and weeding the garden, and planting seedlings.
6. Do you have any de-stressing or pampering rituals that you like to do on a daily or weekly basis?
Daily baths with the kids is one of the best ways for me to relax. I organize the bath with bath salts, essences, and oils–I am a serial bather! It helps me de-stress. If I’m tired and I take a bath I feel like a new person right away.
7. If we were to empty your handbag right now, what would we find inside?
