Its beginning to look a lot like
Friday! Black Friday to be exact and I havent purchased a darn thing except a big ol green juice this morning in an attempt to redeem myself for being recklessness yesterday. (Searching for a word that can mean both reckless AND fun to no avail. Help?) I skipped yoga in the morning then proceeded to have 3 slices of pie with my afternoon coffee and; to my surprise, the world did not stop. It only got sweeter as I enjoyed delicious wild blue berry, coconut cream and my sisters own homemade pumpkin while the snow fell outside the window of her Cape Cod home. It was peaceful. Quiet. Nice.
When I was asked what I was grateful for, as each person took turns going around the table, I wanted to rattle off an entire list but to follow suit, narrowed it down to one; I said simply, health. This year has been a special one for me because my personal definition of the word “health” has greatly expanded, to include much more than it used to – and for that alone, I’m grateful. Its broader than it was as a child (absence of disease and infirmity), an adolescent (fitting into a certain jean size) even young woman (exercising, eating pure foods, indulgences in moderation). The World Health Organization (WHO) defined health in 1946 as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and the complete definition was the one I was referring to when I raised my glass in gratitude on Thanksgiving.
Black Friday is upon us so I thought about making a winter wish list this year and did (on pinterest) but its not the typical holiday wish list. Its a collection of images, reminders of some sort, to seek out experiences and things in the New Year that honor that broader definition of health. And because my wish for our readers is to have abundant health, in the spirit of the work that we do at Tata Harper Skincare, I wanted to share this list with you. Perhaps youll be inspired to create your own and if you do, please share your link in the comment section below.

WISH TO TRAVEL SOMEWHERE UNEXPECTED
The Huffington Post shared this article last winter, the best trips to take in 2014. Im sure they would be just fine for 2015 as well. On it, a place that took my breath away: Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, with 77 mountains above 12,000 feetincluding 14,259-foot Longs Peakand a span of alpine tundra. Travel is fun; it can also very expensive, but so are all the other things we spend on during this time. Travel though . Passport Magazine says, Travel can provide a variety of perhaps surprising personal and health benefits as well and studies show travel leads to a greater learning capacity, increased feeling of happiness and satisfaction and better family relationships. Where will you go this year? Check out HuffPos list if you need ideas.

WISH FOR MORE MEMORIES
I was extremely frugal in 2014 but around the time of my 29th birthday decided I was going to start putting aside money here and there to take more adventures. Where I would normally tinker on the edge of indecision when it came to a cross-country wedding or bachelorette, this year I RSVPd with an X will attend to each and every one. Of course, you cant buy yourself memories but I havent experienced buyers remorse with a single trip I have taken to bring myself closer to my friends. I wish for many more gatherings with my friends in 2015. This cozy Friendgiving scene is borrowed from The Southerly, a new blog I recently came across and instantly fell in love with. The creator touts herself as a Southern woman with an old soul and a love for the smaller things in life. Fun with friends is one of those things.
WISH FOR THE MOON
I mentioned in my last Friday 5 that Id share my favorite scene from Its A Wonderful Life. Here it is. A lot of families have the tradition of watching the same Holiday movie each Christmas and mine does as well but in our house we tend to go in phases. Usually, its whoever pipes up the loudest that decides what the rest of us watch. When I was younger, that person was moi, so we watched A Very Brady Christmas year after year. My cousin Gil would recite every word to A Christmas Story ,so it was that for a while, then we decided on The Family Stone because of our collective adoration for Rachel McAdams, and now its The Polar Express because it lights up my nephew like a Christmas tree. What is yours? Please share in the comments below.
WISH FOR WARMTH
Money cant buy happiness. But it can by our Night Out Essentials Holiday Collection and this wool winter beanie from Eugenia Kim. I am a fan of both. Well be posting some extensive Holiday Gift Guides in the coming weeks from women who I would consider experts in the art of whats cool, hot, hip curation; Taylor Thomasi Hill and Anabel Atikinson of She’s in the Glow. So take it them, not from me… though these two winter essentials are worth checking out!
WISH FOR AN EPIC LAZY SUNDAY
As Black Friday comes to a close, I am wishing for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Im part of the team that planned this years Black Friday (hope you loved it- theres still time) and Cyber Monday (youre going to love it, % off plus a “very nice” gift… *wink*). Needless to say, after preparing all our promotions and over 20 different gifts with purchase, Im ready for winters nap . and maybe a cocktail. It is 5:00 after all. This weekend feels like the first official weekend of winter already (its freezing outside!), so as I look forward to many more, Im hoping this season is filled with at least one unforgettable Lazy Sunday…because that just might be one of my favorite gifts to give myself.
Warm Holiday Wishes,
